SENIOR UTRAN ENGINEER

Job Description:

Senior UTRAN Engineer requires broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures applied in providing advice and consultation on UTRAN engineering matters. Works with minimum supervision; conferring on technical issues only for unusual situations. Within the context of job responsibilities, assignments require originality and ingenuity and considerable latitude for un-reviewed decision-making.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The area of responsibility will generally cover several of the following activities -

  • Manage the RNC which includes implementation, commissioning and integration with Node B and MGW/ PS core
  • Network performance improvement, including tracing and analysis of single call as well as traffic analysis and improvement using KPI’s
  • Provide competence transfer on RNC O&M to the local engineers (on the job training).
  • In-depth understanding of RAN ATM, IP transport network and capability to modify configurations according to established templates and script procedures
  • Correct RNC, NodeB faults and performance degradations in the network
  • Create KPI & monitor Alarm on the OSS application ATM/IMA knowledge and implementation
  • License rollout, RNC and RBS HW upgrade and re-home activities (increase/decrease capacity or swap)
  • Function verification in accordance with the maintenance documentation of the network element
  • Troubleshooting on a network element and its interfaces
  • Diagnostics on interfaces to locate problems in network elements and/or plug-in units
  • Failure reporting & escalation, if needed
  • RNC internal parameter audit
  • Perform UTRAN internal parameter audit

Qualifications & Essential Requirements:

  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent and 3 years relevant experience or Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Information Systems or equivalentand 5 years relevant experience.
  • Experience in telecommunications systems or associated computer systems.
  • Must have working experience on one of the following equipment - Ericsson, NSN, Huawei or Alcatel Lucent
  • Experience must include 3 years work in UMTS/WCDMA technologies
  • Experience in routine RNC O&M (both preventative & corrective) and troubleshooting
  • Require travel at short notice and relocation within the USA
